FRIDAYS | Global

The #FridaysforFuture global climate strikes are an opportunity for school children and adults alike to raise the voice of urgency for climate action and push leaders to unite behind the science and follow the Paris Agreement to limit global warming to 1.5°C.

OCTOBER 6-10, 2020 | Bergen & cities around the world

Over the course of 2020 the TED Countdown team will be engaging with city mayors, policy-makers, business leaders, community leaders, scientists, philanthropists, youth activists, and key influencers – to activate bold climate solutions that can bring global emissions down to net-zero by 2050 at the latest. A Countdown Summit - four days of radical collaboration and talks in Bergen, Norway - will take place from October 6-9, followed by a global day of action on 10.10.20.

NOVEMBER 9-20, 2020 | Glasgow

COP26 in Glasgow is arguably the most important climate summit since the landmark Paris Agreement was agreed at COP21 in 2015. It's critical because it marks the first of the five yearly ratchets in ambition (increases in GHG emissions reduction efforts) that governments promised in Paris. Under the five yearly increases, countries are due to submit updated plans to bridge the gap between current pledges, which put the world on course for more than 3ºC of warming, and the long term goal of striving to limit warming to 1.5ºC.
